The Modern Packaging Challenge: Making the Transition from Rigid to Flexible Packaging

Tue. October 16| 12:00 PM - 12:30 PM | Booth N-4585

According to a recent study, consumer flexible packaging will continue to grow at an annual rate of 4.1 percent through the year 2022. Consumer demand is setting the standard for product packaging trends, which is signaling CPGs to incorporate benefits such as enhanced sustainability, functionality such as reclosability, and e-commerce considerations. Product managers in markets historically using rigid containers can realize opportunities where flexible packaging, specifically bags and pouches, can have an impact on packaging trends. The efficiencies and capabilities of pouch making for fill and seal production have overcome many initial capital reinvestment barriers, and can result in a faster response to market opportunities. In this digital age, consumer voices continue to grow louder and more powerful, further enabling them to set future standards and trends for CPG brands. Those organizations that monitor, understand, and satisfy consumer demands through product, equipment, and technological advancements will stay ahead of the competition and ultimately succeed.
